Bruce Linton

Businessperson

Bruce Linton was the founder and co-chief executive officer of Canopy Growth Corporation and also co-founded Tweed Marijuana, Inc. Under his leadership, Canopy Growth became the first publicly traded cannabis company in North America. The company went on to form a partnership with Beckley Canopy Therapeutics in 2018.

Bruce left Canopy in November 2019 to serve as executive chairman at Vireo Health International, Inc. According to his bio on the Vireo Health site, Bruce “spearheads the company’s strategic decision-making, capital markets activity and partnerships.”

In a 2018 interview, Bruce told The Globe and Mail:

I always put myself in spots where I could be a disastrous failure. That’s super motivational because you can’t let it happen.

He also commented,

Career can be a limiting perspective because people think they’re supposed to be particularly good at something and stay with it. I’ve gone from high-tech to dot-com to infrastructure to cannabis. It relates to an eagerness to be with the big trends.
